Celebrity chefs gone wild for a good cause

KitchenAid Cook For The Cure

KitchenAid Cook For The Cure

Celebrity chef Lynn Crawford has cooked, entertained and of course eaten more wild and woolly foods from around the world than she or anyone else can shake a chef’s spoon at; and, is always at the ready to help support a good cause.  Enter KitchenAid and Food Network and several of Lynn’s cookery pals with big hearts.

Crawford held an event last month at her Toronto Queen Street East restaurant http://rubywatchco.ca/ to launch KitchenAid Cook For The Cure celebrity chefs inaugural culinary showdown.  Pasta mania got underway with shouts for the longest single piece of pasta to reach from Ruby Watchco’s kitchen to Red Rocket (Toronto’s red streetcars) streetcar tracks.  The race was on with two teams.

IMG_0226Leading up to the Cook for the Cure Culinary Showdown, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation event to take place at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York Hotel on December 7, 2013, the top 50 fundraisers ($2,500 up) will have the opportunity to compete on a celebrity chef team in front of a live audience. If you’ve ever dreamed of cooking up a storm with a celebrity chef this is your chance…all for a good cause. There’s even a Celebrity Chefs School fundraisers can attend by raising $2,500 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.  Raise $250 and you’ll receive a signed “Culinary Showdown” apron.  Raise $500 and an autographed chef cookbook is yours. $1,000 fundraisers are eligible to attend the Culinary Showdown, enjoy a gourmet meal and watch the showdown.

Another way in which to fundraise for the KitchenAid Cook For The Cure cause is to hold a party and ask your guests to donate to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in place of hostess gifts. Share your fundraising party pictures and your party could be featured on KitchenAidCanada Facebook page. KitchenAid Canada will donate $50. per party once you’ve submitted your funds to the Foundation. Over $2.3 milion has been raised for the CBCF since 2002 through Cook for the Cure parties.

Of course your party wouldn’t have the same “pink” WOW factor without a KitchenAid Architect Series Rasberry Ice Stand Mixer in the house. KitchenAid Canada will donate $75. to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for each mixer sold.

The all-star KitchenAid Cook For The Cure lineup of Canadian chefs include Food Network’s Lynn Crawford (image), Mark McEwan (image), Chuck Hughes, Vikram Vij and Corbin Tomaszeski.  Actor Dean McDermott will host the event at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on December 7, 2013.

Members of the audience (must raise $1,000) will be treated to a gourmet meal as the celebrity chefs and their tems, comprised of the top fundraisers, take centre stage. Everyone should keep their culinary skills sharp, as audience members may be called upon at any time to participate in the cooking challenge. Five teams of 10 will compete to create three unique dishes, applying the skills mastered during Celebrity Chefs School. Participants will cook each course under pressure of time, and will be judged by an expert panel on taste and plate presentation.
